What is the average cost of Botox?

The cost of Botox injections varies depending on the number of injections you will need. On average, a unit of Botox costs $10-$20 each. Crow’s feet may require 5-6 units, the forehead may require 15-20 units, and the glabella lines (between your eyebrows) may take up to 20 units.

Dr. Mylissa uses full strength Allergan Botox, which is pure and not hyper-diluted. Dr. Mylissa works hard to provide the best services and products to all her patients.

When should you start getting Botox?

The age at which you start getting Botox is entirely personal. The deep lines and wrinkles that Botox treats are caused by repetitive contraction of facial muscles, such as when you laugh, smile, or frown. For some, these lines may present earlier in life while in others they may not see them until much later. However, most start getting Botox once they hit their 30s. However, there is some evidence that supports preventative Botox. By receiving Botox before even seeing lines or wrinkles, such as in your 20s, you can prevent them from happening at all. There are some lines, such as the lines created by frowning and angling your mouth downwards (also called marionette lines) are really hard to treat once they start showing.

Ultimately, if you start to notice and are bothered by lines and wrinkles, that is when you can consider starting to get Botox treatments. The ideal patient is someone who is starting to notice fine lines and really wants to prevent them from turning into deep folds. This can be as early as 25 or later in one’s 30s. If you’re younger than 25 and are considering Botox treatments, it is unlikely that you’ve developed any lines that require treatment.

How long does Botox last the first time?

Botox injections will become noticeable within 24-48 hours and last between 4-6 months. However, it is important to keep in mind that your first treatment will likely not lead to long-lasting or ideal results. Multiple treatments are required for your muscles to adapt and become conditioned to Botox and results will start to last longer after several treatments. You may need to schedule your second treatment 3-4 months after your first treatment. However, because each person is unique and responds differently to a procedure like Botox, results will vary.

Botox is usually diluted with 1 to 3 ccs of saline, which results in a diffusion of Botox into the surrounding areas in a way that is beneficial to them. But more pure injections of Botox allow for more precise treatment. Unfortunately, hyper-dilution is common, which means that the patient receiving the injection won’t see the benefits of the treatment. Dr. Mylissa at Dr. Mylissa’s Medical Boutique only uses FDA-approved, genuine, and pure Botox. If you are thinking about getting Botox to treat your lines and wrinkles, then you can feel confident in the treatments you will receive from Dr. Mylissa.
