What’s So Cool About CoolTone?
There’s a lot to love about the recent advances in non-invasive body contouring. It’s no wonder they’re so popular. CoolSculpting, RF treatments, and treatments that use thermal laser therapy and focused ultrasound technologies are all effective body contouring methods that can be customized to a patient’s unique aesthetic goals. Many of these noninvasive procedures are effective fat-reduction treatments, but they do not address the underlying skeletal muscle definition.(1) CoolTone does! CoolTone is cleared by the FDA for the improvement and strengthening of abdominal muscles, as well as the strengthening, toning, and firming of the buttocks and thighs.(2)

It’s Not Magic, It’s Science
The CoolTone applicator generates an electromagnetic field that passes through a conductive material, ie. muscles. Muscles are great conductors of magnetic fields, unlike skin and fat – which just aren’t. Your body responds by producing muscle contractions that strengthen muscle fibers and their overall muscle conditioning. The result is stronger, firmer, and more toned abdomen, thighs, and buttocks. And it doesn’t stop there. Your stimulated muscles burn fat while they work, and continue consuming calories long after your treatment is over.
Electromagnetic Muscle Stimulation has been used for decades for physical therapy and for urological applications. Basically, it’s a ground-breaking tool for strengthening any essential muscle. What makes this treatment invaluable is its ability to bypass the skin and nerves, eliminating any discomfort. The flow of the current is specifically directed to the muscle layer! Because of its electrical conductivity, powerful contractions are easily stimulated. Clinical studies have proved just how effective EMMS is.(2)
CoolTone was approved by the FDA in 2019 to address common aesthetic concerns like the stomach, butt and thighs. It’s made by Allergan, the same company that gave us Botox, Juvederm, and CoolSculpting. So, you can safely expect the best!
CoolTone’s pulsating magnetic fields penetrate skin and fat to reach the skeletal muscle level. This leads to a rapid and sustained rate of muscular contraction that you simply can’t get with sit-ups, crunches, or even hours of pilates.
There are no drawbacks to strength. Because CoolTone improves your overall muscle strength and condition, you’ll find yourself upping your workout, and looking great while you’re at it. Get the bikini body you deserve, and take your fitness to the next level. Dr. Mylissa’s Medical Boutique is all about helping you look and feel your best. Give her Delray office a call and schedule an appointment to see what CoolTone can do for you.
Because of CoolTone’s technology, this procedure is not for everyone. While most healthy people are able to benefit from CoolTone, women do need to use caution. If you’re looking for firmer abs, make sure that you do not get CoolTone abdominal treatments while pregnant or menstruating. You may find that your period comes sooner, or cramping is increased or intensified, so make sure to schedule your CoolTone treatments at a different time of the month, and definitely wait until after you’ve had your baby.
If you have the following, CoolTone is not for you:
- Recent injuries or surgical procedures
- Any kind of infection
- Cardiac pacemakers or implanted defibrillators
- Implanted neurostimulators
- Drug pumps
- Malignant tumors
- Metal or electronic implants in the treatment area
- Hearing Aids

CoolTone is loved for the ease of the procedure. If you’re a good candidate, there’s barely any preparation. All you need to do is show up and relax. In total, your appointment will take less than an hour. You should be able to get a CoolTone treatment on your lunch break, and get tight and toned without smelling like the gym afterward.
CoolTone is an electromagnetic device that compels the muscles in the target area to contract involuntarily many times per minute. The cumulative effect of CoolTone is a toned musculature in the target area, along with a corresponding reduction in fat. The results exceed what’s possible with exercise alone. The CoolTone experience itself, however, is quite low key and relaxed. In fact, many of our Delray patients read or take a nap or read during the procedure! While you take it easy, the applicator is placed on the area of your body that you want to target, and a soft pad holds it in place. The CoolTone technology and your muscles do the rest!
CoolTone is non-surgical, non-invasive, and requires no downtime. Your treatment area may feel sore for the next few days, but only as though you’ve done a tough workout (without doing any work!). As always, continue your normal workouts and healthy lifestyle to see the best results.
CoolTone’s results can last for years if you work to maintain your gains. Just like a workout, keep at it to see optimal results. Your CoolTone results will be best if the procedure is paired with a healthy lifestyle. CoolTone’s results typically begin to show two to four weeks after your treatment. Afterwards, you’ll see continual improvement in muscle mass for up to six months. This is because the electromagnetic energy used to contract your muscles also metabolizes the surrounding fat cells. The results are a leaner, stronger physique that will have you beach-ready with no sweat. That being said, regular CoolTone treatments are best paired with a healthy, active lifestyle. Make sure that you enhance the quality and duration of your stunning results.
Besides a healthy lifestyle, there is another way to get the most out of your CoolTone treatment. The same makers of CoolTone are also behind CoolSculpting technology. CoolSculpting offers another attractive alternative to surgical procedures like tummy tuck and liposuction. It’s a non-invasive, fat eliminating procedure with no downtime and enduring results. When paired with CoolTone, CoolSculpting can enhance and complement your developed muscle mass by removing excess fat from the area.
CoolSculpting freezes away excess fat cells. So while you’re toning your muscles and jump-starting your metabolism, CoolSculpting gets to work on that pesky stubborn fat right away. Each of these procedures’ unique technologies mean that they can be performed safely in tandem for a comprehensive outcome, and optimal results.
